The Staff

The Museum is staffed by two Custodians who will be only to happy to welcome you to the museum and ensure your visit is an enjoyable and rewarding one. They will provide you with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and light meals are also available in the dining room.
Murray Thacker will often be found happily working away in and around the Museum and will happily share his vast knowledge of artifacts with visitors. Click on the names on the right for more info on the staff.

Sharon Henderson - Custodian

Sharon has worked as the Museum Custodian for approximately 10 years. She is currently studying for the ATTTO Museum Practice qualification. Sharon has a been a great supporter of the Okains Bay community and serves as the secretary of the Reserve Board which runs its popular camping ground. Sharon is skilled at catering and prepares the honoured guests lunch on Waitangi day, and for any groups visiting the Museum. This is an area that the Museum would like to develop further

Michelle Boardman

Michelle is mother to five children, two grown up and moved away, and grandma to one. She is currently completely a B.A. majoring in Psychology and Education. Along with her family, she has recently returned to the South Island from Wellington. Three of her children's whakapapa is tied to Little River and Onuku, Akaroa. She is very passionate about education so wants to develop a strong programme for schools visits.
