Amongst a great collection of Colonial buildings including a pioneeer totara slab cottage, slab stables, Trustcott's Saddlery and the Churchill Cottage colonial home, is a working Blacksmith's shop which is a converted coaching stables from Duvauchelle. On Waitangi Day, the blacksmith's shop is fired up and you can get a feel for what is was like to put in a day's work in this very hot environment.

The Blacksmith's shop houses an extensive collection of blacksmithing tools, many donated by local concerns, that help give a real feel to the important job a blacksmith did in small communities in times past.
